With the help of black cowboy Nat Love, "Deadwood Dick", we meet a melting pot of characters who made a difference out West. Don Pedro de la Peralta lays out the city of Santa Fe long before the Pilgrims reach Plymouth Rock. A teenaged Sacagawea helps Lewis and Clark's original exploration of the West. Newspaper editor Gail Borden writes "Remember the Alamo" before inventing a process for condensed milk. Slaves learn about freedom in the Gold Rush. Esther Morris wins the cause for equal rights in Wyoming. John Stetson builds a better hat. Elfego Baca faces prejudice with blazing six-guns. The challenges of the future are pondered by the ancestors of the past, who realize that a people without history are like the "wind on the buffalo grass."

Through rhythm and rhyme, a Chorus creates the mystery of the swamp. The magic of this play is not fairy dust -- it is soil. The magic of the earth and mud of the swamp. The magic of survival. In an exciting duel of wits, Wiley learns to rely upon his own resources and conquers two villains; the Hairy Man and his own fear.

Wilma’s brother is the worst. After he ties her to a tree—again—Wilma and her friends, Renee and Tracy, decide to get even. But figuring out the just punishment is not so easy. They try ignoring him, but Harry loves a challenge, so that doesn’t work. They try to frame him, but Wilma balks at throwing a ball through Coach’s window, so that doesn’t work. Finally, on the day of Harry’s big baseball game, the girls goad him into a pre-game challenge—a one-on-one game with their secret weapon—Renee! She beats him easily, humiliates him completely, bringing him to tears. Wilma makes amends with her brother, who quickly lapses into his bullish self once more. But Wilma is ready this time. With wit and cunning, she manages to tie Harry to a tree, leaving him just long enough to receive his just reward.

Toad is the rich playboy of the animal kingdom. His current enthusiasm is motor cars, which he embraces passionately without the formality of learning to drive. After several narrow shaves, his friends Rat, Mole and Badger ground him for his own safety at his home, Toad Hall - - but he eludes them and appropriates a police car, which lands him in jail. In his absence, the Weasels take over Toad Hall, and Toad returns to find his elegant mansion in a shambles. It takes his friends to drive the Weasels out and restore Toad to his senses, but by that time he has acquired a new passion - - airplanes!

Then the big trouble starts.

Blown to the Land of Oz by a Kansas cyclone, Dorothy and her little dog, Toto, are at a loss to know how to get back home. Wearing the magic silver slippers which she has earned quite unexpectedly, and protected by the kiss of the good Witch of the East, Dorothy goes in search of the Wizard of Oz, in the hope that he can solve her problem. On the way, she picks up some delightful new friends, who join her in seeking out the mighty Wizard. But it is many adventures later before she discovers the way to get back home.

Traveling toward Dog's home, where Wolf intends to seek employment, the two meet a hunter, a priest, and a shepherd, each of whom spins a tale of the evil wolf's foolishness and greed. Wolf responds with very different stories of her own. By dawn, she and Dog understand the high price of freedom. With respect for one another, they choose their separate ways.

This is an original play, built around the fantastic tale of three suitors who come to prove their prowess in order to win the hand of the Emperor's daughter. Fleeing with the suitor of her choice, the unpretentious student Tang, the Princess is pursued by the Emperor's army, but is welcomed back when Tang is able to subdue the fierce dragon of the Khan of Tartary by twisting its tail. Novel, dead-pan comedy provided by Property Man and Chorus.
